FridgeLux is a unique product which reduces retailers energy bills by dramatically cutting the cost of product display lighting.
Refrigeration accounts for more than 50% of a supermarkets energy bill.
FridgeLux is an LED based system which incorporates PIR motion sensors to control light levels. This ensures optimum energy savings with brightest possible light in the refrigerated unit while the customer is present. When the customer is not at the unit, the light intensity reduces to a level which minimises energy consumption while sufficiently lighting the merchandise in the unit. The system has been developed by Ecolight and is aimed at the convenience and forecourt market.
We have installed two trial sites in Tralee and to confirm the savings, we put an energy monitor on the Dairywall units both before and after the installation of the FridgeLux system.
This report is based on a 16 foot Dairywall with 27 fluorescent tubes for 15 hours per day at €0.1331 per KWh unit.
